KidsCan (www.kidscan.org.uk) is a children’s cancer research charity, who search for better ways to treat childhood cancers and aim to find out what makes drugs effective in some cases and not as effectives in others. This way, drugs can be tailored to individual patients, making them work to maximum effect. KidsCan is a registered charity, number 1094946.
PPD was recommended to KidsCan through Graeme Draper at the University of Salford, as being a company that would tailor a system to the needs of the work being carried out by the charity. After numerous meetings between KidsCan and ourselves, it was determined that KidsCan required a database that could accurately record all donor information, and be readily accessible in a number of forms, reflecting the diversity of the events managed. A specific Collection Box project threw up a number of box management issues, both for the box placement operator and the admin staff recording the data for analysis.
Through a working partnership we were able to understand KidsCan’s business challenges and learn their every need from this project. By listening to Kidscan we were able to design a software package specific to Kidscan, particularly allowing the Box Project data to be retrieved in a number of ways to evaluate the progress. The processing of Gift Aid claims though the Inland Revenue will also be much more efficient through this system. KidsCan is now able to hold donor information for all aspects of their work in a form that can expand as their needs increase though volume and type of support, We are continuing to work in partnership with Kidscan to modify the project as their needs are changing.
“Kidscan has been provided with a product that is serving all it’s current needs and is capable of expanding to meet future demands. We are very happy with the service, which continues to be provided”
